Record-breaking Swiss

Data released by Swiss International Air Lines  shows it transported 16,307,542 travellers in 2015, an increase of 0.9% over the previous year and a new all-time record for the Zurich-based carrier.

The airline operated 145,146 flights over the 12-month period, of which 126,715 were within Europe and 18,431 were on intercontinental routes.  Average load factors for year were 78.5% and 85.6% respectively.

However, while Swiss’ passenger operations performed well, the carrier’s air freight business continued to feel the impact of the global downturn with the average cargo load factor falling to 75.9%, down 3.5% over 2014.
