La Compagnie Axes Luton Links

La Compagnie has confirmed it will suspend its London/Luton to New York service from September 25.  The French boutique Business Class carrier attributed its decision on the “new economic climate in Europe, fuelled by Brexit, and that has already affected various significant players within the airline industry.”

The carrier’s founder and CEO Frantz Yvelin emphasised “this is the suspension of, not the cancellation of, the London – New York route.”  He added: “We are the firmest believers of the UK’s unique market position, hence the decision to invest heavily in our London route for the past 16 months.  Meanwhile, the result of the EU referendum has created an unprecedented level of legal and economic uncertainty for airlines that service Great Britain.  Hence, our decision to accelerate development on our Paris –New York route where [the average load factor] is already [more than] 80% as we recognise the increasing market demand in both the corporate and leisure segment.”

La Compagnie will use the spare capacity gained through the suspension of its London services to add a second daily rotation from Paris/Orly from October.  Customers affected by the suspension have been offered a full refund or the option to rebook on the Paris-New York service free of charge.
