Turkish carrier Borajet Airlines has confirmed “long term” lease deals with AerCap for three Embraer E190-E2s and two E195-E2s.  Deliveries will begin in 2018 and the jets will come from AerCap’s existing order book.  The agreement was announced at the Istanbul Airshow on October 6.

Fatih Akol, Chairman of Borajet Airlines, said: “We are the fastest growing regional airline in Europe.  We are adding to our fleet because of this success which is based on our strategy and the operation of current generation Embraer Jets.  Borajet’s future plans include the addition of further next generation Embraer aircraft to our fleet.”

Akol said the five E2 jets leased from AerCap were just the start of an ambitious $1.5bn investment strategy.

“Our investment is proof of our commitment to, and confidence in, the Turkish airline industry,” the Borajet CEO proclaimed.  “With special thanks to our passengers who have supported us and demanded this growth, we will continue to give our guests the ‘private aircraft comfort’ and quality of service they have learned to expect from Borajet.”

AerCap is the launch lessor for Embraer’s E2 Family with a total of 50 E190-E2s and E195-E2s on order.

Arjan Meijer, Vice President, Europe & Middle East, Embraer Commercial Aviation, highlighted the commonality benefits Borajet will gain.  “For Borajet, the cockpit commonality between the E-Jets generations, which requires less than three days of transition, minimises training costs, reduces complexity, and provides greater operational flexibility in aircrew utilisation.”
